New Dinosaur kits

Tuesday, February 13, 2007 - 07:31 PM UTC

By SCOTT LODDER
Here is a release of a different color, no armor, no sheet metal, none of that - this is a release of two dinosaur kits.

Revell is releasing two Snaptight kits, an Allosaurus and a Pteranodon.

As most of us are adult modelers into cars, tanks, or planes we look for ways to get our kids into the hobby. Here are two kits that would appeal to kids 'into' something a bit different. You don't have to worry about superdetailing these or worrying about the proper slide transfers to make these two animals correct. Any paint job will do, this gives kids great freedom to build quick and have fun.

Each of these kits will run $12.75.

These look very much like the old Monogram models returned to life. If they are, then the Pteranodon has a wingspan of something like 10" (or maybe bigger). The pterosaur is okay, but simplified, the allosaurus is very cartoonish. BTW Airfix have reissued some of their prehistoric creatures, including a pterosaur swooping on a coelacanth. David

Don't know about your questions - I looked but didn't see what scale or size.

How big are these figs? Scale? I love to have one soon. Too bad Tamiya discontinued their dinosaur line of kits.

Here are two new kits that will help bring some younger kids into the hobby. I have many fond memories of killing a rainy afternoon with kits like these. Read more about it. Link to Item If you have comments or questions please post them here. Thanks!
